The further out the better, ideally 6-8 weeks, just 2-3 sessions / week is great. You go at your own pace and timing so you can practice as much or as little as you want.
Still plenty of time to learn a limited set of moves you can feel confident with for your first dance, probably 3-4 moves that you will mix & match.
